Hi! I’m Susanna Usery!
When I first married my husband twelve years ago, I didn’t know that God’s plans for us would include seven beautiful children…at least, I didn’t think he would send them so quickly! Now I’m a stay-at-home mom who enjoys homeschooling, writing music, and rearranging my furniture every few weeks. Most days you’ll find me cleaning up spills, and passing out snacks with one hand while directing math with the other. I’m passionate about finding Jesus in the everyday moments of motherhood: while washing dishes, folding laundry, and even when I’m holding my breath scrubbing toilets. I’m desperately aware of my shortcomings, and fervently grateful for God’s grace.
My heart is to encourage other moms to love their husbands, love their children, and find Jesus in the everyday moments with me. I think that both war and worship can be found in the midst of the mundane which is why the enemy is so intent on ravaging our homes. My resolution is this: I’ve come to fight. I’ve come to put on the whole armor of God so that I can stand against the enemy’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11) I’m here to stand up and proclaim in Jesus’ name that we do not have to cave to fear, anxiety, or depression, but we can stand on the solid Rock of Christ. We can fight against the darkness that presses against our families, and we can invoke the Holy Spirit’s presence into our homes and hearts.
Women of God, let’s choose to worship instead of wail. Let’s choose to focus on the faithfulness of God and on His goodness instead of the intensity of our problems. And when you feel like you are drowning…When you are submerged in hardship so overwhelming that you are suffocating, whisper His name. Grab on to his never-failing love like a life preserver and rest in the hope that Jesus offers. He will never fail.
“This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:21-23
